Residuals (Director’s Cut)

2 Aug

There is not much left
to hope for
after the hole.

Days run into other days,
piling up at the gates like freight,
and nights take twice as long
to pass
all the while
you are waiting and hoping
to fill in the spaces
with something more concrete than mysticism
and faith.

There is always the theological fight
when fidelity to communion
and dogma is challenged;
when you’re conditioned to believe it’s wrong
to walk away from everything
you’ve built before the eyes of God;
the anger, heretical rebellion, bitterness, and cynicism
envelop and flow within
the veins;
monotheistic faith
clouds the mind and shrinks the heart

until the fire
smolders slowly out
and you begin to forgive yourself.

    Good news, what’s coming could be dementia- when all the worrying magically drops away, and you’re left with pudding and a few vague memories about puppies. Or not.

    I am drawn to the last like though. And hope, hope, hope that it’s true.

    Very pared down layout- trying to get rid of distractions?

    and yes on the pared-down look. i like this for now. looks like paper.
