October

12 Dec

she had been at the window
most of the year.

one day
she put out her cigarette
and said: “I am leaving tomorrow”

and that is how a man
loses his wife.

Damn. Very succinct. Almost Hemingwaylike- only I like yours better. “My what?” you ask. Your everything. Better than Hemingway. But we have had this discussion before.

Says girl not living in Pullman. Ever.

just read this…a little late, i know. but very nice. nice. it’s weird saying this, but i think if my marriage ended, this is exactly how it would be. “I’m leaving ‘tomorrow'” because, well…what’s the difference between tomorrow and right now? all the words, experiences, feelings, blah blah blah. a night together is like being alone, just better or worse depending. you keep me reading..!
