The totalitarianism that has begun to arrive in little waves hitting a fragile shore peppered by fragile dunes, infiltrating the fabric of comfortable society, is not ideological in its conception. It’s not born of revolutionary ideas birthed in beer halls or underground, dimly-lit rooms hosting all-night sessions by the Resistance. The repressive regime taking hold of modern society is the manufacturing of a brutal wall of antiquated, religious dogma allowed to flourish inside ill-educated, narrow minds devoid of any curiosity and infected with fear. Rimbaud said we must always, at all costs, be modern. Think in a modern fashion. The regime beginning to cut off our supply of air is rooted in mystical belief, crusades in its name, inquisitions, torture. Cognitive dissonance is the gateway that has been opened in order to allow this tapeworm to feed on its gracious host. The glass is neither half full nor half empty. The glass has fissures all throughout.
