Of Royalty’s Life

2 Aug

The international issue of Blue Fifth Review was nice enough to publish my short piece “It’s a Princess’ Life.”   Many thanks to editors Michelle Elvy and Sam Rasnake for taking this. The piece lives about halfway down the page, but check out some of the other stuff from writers and poets out of Ireland, India, New Zealand, etc. The version of “It’s a Princess’ Life” appeared on this site last year; it had much more exposition to it….something I felt needed to be cut. I re-wrote the piece for Sam and Michelle also leaving out some cultural or pop culture references, which I thought distracted readers. The writer that most influenced me during the time I wrote this, is Roddy Doyle, and the book that served as the impetus for the piece was his novel “The Woman Who Walked Into Doors.”
