The Brazen Bull

30 Mar

A new piece called “The Brazen Bull,” which I wrote as a contributor for The Revenge of the Scammed Anthology edited by Nate Tower (Bartleby Snopes) now lives here, if you’d like to read it.

It would be extremely helpful to you, the reader, if you clicked on the anthology link up above and read about it before you read the piece. The story’s intent follows the guidelines of what the anthology required and what it aimed to do. If you don’t, the story unfortunately won’t make much sense. I usually don’t like to have something cryptic like that out there, but I also wanted to use a different form for this piece of fiction, and the form dictates that the reader know the intent and meaning first and foremost.

I wrote the story in this form because I somehow wanted to pay a measly homage to Roberto Bolano’s The Savage Detectives novel, which I had just finished reading at the time. I also enjoy strange ideas, such as anthropomorphizing torture devices.

I hope you like this piece. I’m happy to say that the anthology raised enough money to meet its goals. Again, you can read all about it here.

And again, “The Brazen Bull” is here.
