They didn’t find him, the dogs did. The German shepherds. With little Red Cross vests clasped down around their bellies. Pemulius had seen them once before when he was five; rescue dogs sent from Switzerland, searching in the rubble of a collapsed apartment building from a purported gas leak many thought the government itself engineered for political purpose.
